Dear Members

SVRC 2024, 49th Season Chairman’s Report

The season started well with good entries in all classes but these did tail off as the season progressed. The in hand is always popular and gains good numbers, beautiful ponies and horses and lots of smiling faces and a few red ones!

The ridden has suffered with poor entries in most classes, but the people that entered put on a superb show of riding and sportsmanship

The showjumping also had a small reduction in entries but it certainly didn’t suffer with lack of competition, some fantastic riding was seen and the youngsters are getting better and better.

Working Hunter was saved at the last minute from being axed, we decided to run it again and we did get more entries than the season before. The Riding and style of most competitors was lovely to watch and great to see some new faces in the ring.

Vandalism continued to haunt us and I get really cross about it. We strive to bring a nice environment for our members and when things are needlessly smashed up and broken its so gut wrenching. We want to buy new equipment etc not repair things and replace items that are taken away so heartlessly. Usually this happens right before a show so we have to make do Keep calm and carry on.

Thank you to all the people that came down to the ground in the evenings before shows to help us put courses up, with myself in a sling after surgery and our main course builder pregnant we were extremely grateful for the help.

Our Stars finalists did our little club proud at Aintree and we all enjoyed seeing their progress. Wherever they were placed or even if they weren’t you earned your place and know that you were up there with the top local riders in England. We as a club were very proud of all of you.

Next year is the clubs 50th Anniversary so let’s make it a good one.

Over and out

Emma
